My View:

I once shared to my mom if we go to the beach, standing on a big rock. When the water splash the water on the rock. How do we feel? Yes, when the water splash on the rock. Lead researcher, Dr. Joe A. Vinson, described the research study demonstrating increased bioavailability of vitamins C and E when taken in combination with aloe vera.

The study was a human clinical trial whereby test subjects were given doses of vitamin C or E with or without aloe. Blood samples were taken at the start of the trial, before the administration of the vitamins, and periodically for 24 hours after the administration of blinded test samples.

The blood plasma was then analyzed to determine the level of concentration of each vitamin absorbed.

The results of the trial show that aloe vera improves the absorption of both vitamin C and E. The absorption is slower and the vitamins last longer in the blood plasma with aloe vera.

Researchers concluded that the intake of aloe vera should be considered as a way to complement vitamins C and E. More research in this area will help to confirm these findings.

102-year-old Nana Loves Her Vemma

As we like to say, Vemma is for everyone, ages 2 to 102, and everywhere in between. It just so happens that Mary Elizabeth Joyce is enjoying the benefits of Vemma at the marvelous age of 102 (103 on February 28th!). Vemma Brand Partner Pauline Hansen tells us the story…

“Nana,” my grandmother, has lived in Liverpool, England for most of her life. She began making trips to California in 1964, when our family immigrated, and she even lived here from 1999 to 2007, but insisted she return to England for her 100th birthday. She wanted to be there to receive her special birthday card from the Queen, which was hand-delivered from Buckingham Palace.

Soon after returning to England, Nana was placed in assisted living and her health began to decline, sending her to the hospital several times. We were all preparing for “that phone call.” But last October, my mother, who is 80 and has been taking Vemma for three years, went to visit Nana. She didn’t want to leave Nana there all alone. I urged my mother to start giving her Vemma, which she did. By November, Nana began feeling a bit stronger, so we decided to try to bring her back to California to live out her remaining years. My mother booked a flight from Liverpool to Barcelona, a two-week cruise from Barcelona to Miami, and a flight to Palm Desert, California. The captain of the cruise ship was amazed that there was a person on board older than the Titanic, and he threw a special party in her honor. Nana arrived in California on November 14.

Nana has been taking Vemma every day since October. She says, “I feel 10 years younger!”* My mother is her caregiver, and they both look and feel fantastic!*

Instead of sitting in a nursing home in Liverpool, Nana and my mother are now living a full life together, which consists of weekly “girl” outings where they get their manicures and pedicures, trips to lunch, and occasional trips to the casino, where Nana loves to sit at the slot machines. Nana is walking with the aid of a walker — not in a wheelchair except for long walks.

We are a family of five generations of women, from Addison (3) to Nana (102). We refer to Nana as “little Nana” because of her stature (4’ 8”) and because there are three generations of “Nanas” for the grandchildren to keep straight! In just three months, Vemma has given Nana a new lease on life. We love Vemma!
